It\u2019s about something real: <em data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"416\">mobility<\/em>\u2014a skill you can train to make all of that possible (and more).<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"773\">So what is mobility, exactly?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"481\" data-end=\"773\"><br data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"517\" \/>Mobility is your ability to move a joint freely through its full range of motion\u2014<em data-start=\"598\" data-end=\"624\">with control and purpose<\/em>. It\u2019s not just about muscle or tissue flexibility. True mobility also requires strength and coordination to move without compensating or straining.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"942\">A simple example? Better control over your shoulder could be the difference between grabbing that faraway hold\u2026 or missing it because your tight muscles shut you down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"1138\">The critical word here is \u201c<em data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"979\">active<\/em>.\u201d Unlike passive stretching, mobility work involves deliberate, controlled movement\u2014so you&#8217;re not just stretching, you&#8217;re building strength within that range.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1413\">I started incorporating mobility a few years ago\u2014and it works.<strong data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1206\"><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1413\">What shocked me most was realizing how limited my range of motion really was. My thoracic spine barely moved. My shoulders? Stiff. That restriction carries over when you climb. With better mobility, some moves won\u2019t feel as hard\u2026 and some might finally be <em data-start=\"1826\" data-end=\"1836\">possible<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"1981\">How I work it in:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"1981\"><br data-start=\"1860\" data-end=\"1863\" \/>I integrate mobility in two ways: as part of my warm-ups, and through targeted sessions just focused on mobility work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1983\" data-end=\"2179\">And yes, you can absolutely use weights to build mobility. Think deep goblet squats for opening up the hips. The challenge? It\u2019s not always realistic to load every position that needs improvement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2316\">If you&#8217;re looking for guidance, I highly recommend checking out Tom Merrick\u2019s videos. He\u2019s clear, efficient, and knows what he&#8217;s doing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2318\" data-end=\"2464\">But the best resource? A coach. Deep Squat Hold (Hip Opener)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2821\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2728\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2728\">Stand shoulder-width apart, lower into a deep squat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"2776\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2731\" data-end=\"2776\">Keep your back straight and heels grounded.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2777\" data-end=\"2801\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2779\" data-end=\"2801\">Hold for 30 seconds.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2802\" data-end=\"2821\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2804\" data-end=\"2821\">Repeat 3\u20134 times.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2867\"><strong data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2865\">2.
