Stay motivated during quarantine

Don’t give up! The battle against Covid-19 continues and we look forward to welcoming you to
Bloc Shop, in safety and health. However, the quarantine is not yet finished and the motivation
to train is not always there. Don’t worry, we get it. This is why we want to offer tools to keep
you in shape and make you feel good. So, whether you are a little less motivated or unable to
get off the couch, here are some tips that could help you find the fire you had before this crisis.

1. SET SOME GOALS

One of the difficulties of the current situation is the lack of benchmarks to assess your progress.
We no longer have the satisfaction of sending our projects or finally reach a new grade. To stay
motivated, set some goals for the next few weeks in different areas of climbing: a running
distance, doing the splits, a high point in your hangs, a number of pull ups, etc. It’s more
encouraging when you can see your gains and improvements.

2. MAKE A REALISTIC PLAN

Start by establishing the tools you have access to. You can be creative to replace the equipment
normally available at the gym. Then make a list of the types of training you want to do in the
next month. I can include upper and lower body, abs, core, finger strength, mobility, flexibility,
cardio, balance, etc. Finally, organize a simple and realistic schedule, with specific days for each
exercise session, as well as the time they will take. Prepare your workouts in advance, to make
your job easier.

3. GET MOVING, EVERY DAY

Remember that staying active is very important for our health and morale. If you don’t have the
energy to do some heavy training, try to find a daily time dedicated to move a little. If you can
go out for a short walk or get some fresh air, do it! If not, find a way to activate your body and
mind, like dancing or stretching.

4. ENTERTAIN YOURSELF WITH INSPIRATIONAL CONTENT

Motivate yourself by watching climbing videos or movies and reading stories that inspire you.
You can also listen to music that you usually hear when you work out or watch old footage of
your favorite climbs, to remind you of those great moments. If it makes you nostalgic, choose
content from other sports. Cross fit is particularly motivating, and surfing, very soothing!

5. VARY YOUR EXERCISES

Finally, vary the exercises you choose to do, as to not get bored. This break is ideal to explore
some new moves and abilities. Take this opportunity to push your limits in another way and to
challenge your creativity.

6. BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF

Don’t forget that we are in a crisis and that it’s normal to lack motivation sometimes. If you
have a difficult day, be gentle with yourself and remind yourself that every day is a new day.
Don’t stay fixated on not exercising enough or eating too much. Accept it and look ahead to do
better tomorrow!

One thing is certain, we will manage to get through this crisis, together. Take care of yourself
and your loved ones. See you soon!
